Cron job monitoring
Cron job and heartbeat monitoring
Some failures are silent: the job simply does not run. A heartbeat monitor waits for your job to call its URL, and alerts you when the call is late.
crontab
# nightly backup, then tell uptime.rs it ran 0 3 * * * /usr/local/bin/backup.sh \ && curl -fsS -m 10 --retry 3 https://uptime.rs/ping/<token> \ || curl -fsS -m 10 "https://uptime.rs/ping/<token>/fail?msg=backup+failed"

Cron job monitoring
One curl line
Add "&& curl -fsS https://uptime.rs/ping/<token>" after your command. GET, POST and HEAD all work.
Your schedule and grace time
Set how often the job runs and how late a ping may be. No ping within that time and the monitor goes down, with the usual alerts.
Report failures right away
Call /ping/<token>/fail when the job fails, with ?msg= or a request body as the reason in the alert.
Same history as other monitors
Heartbeats appear on status pages, in reports and in the API like website monitors.
